YPD Sunday (Dec 13) - the Birth of Jesus

Today the children heard the story of the birth of Jesus

Keeping with our new 2nd Sunday is YPD Sunday schedule, the children decorated cards for nursing home residents (and also colored stars to take home to remind them of the story they heard).

During King's Kidz rehearsal with Jessica (who is now our official Children's Worship music leader--yay!), they learned Father of Lights which they will learn again in January and sing in the main sanctuary during Youth Impact Sunday on January 31 (which means we will be staying a little late after church on January 24 to rehearse on stage).

Next week's Children's Worship theme is our BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS. We hope you'll join us!

Your Love Is Deep

Kings Kidz

Exciting news!

The Children will minister to the congregation in song for Youth Impact Sunday, November 22. (EVERYONE worships together in the main sanctuary--children, youth, and adults.)

Immediately after the sermon, children should gather in the Parent Room (the small enclosed family area within the sanctuary).

**The children will sing immediately after altar call, just before offering is taken. **

WANT TO PRACTICE AT HOME?
They will sing Your Love is Deep (which Jessica has adapted from Jami Smith's original version. If you google the song or download an MP3 or CD version, note the kids are singing the verse and bridge only. In other words the A and C section on the music (see lyrics below). Instead of the kids singing the other lyrics have them practice waving their hands in the air side to side to praise God.

Let the kids teach you the arm and hand movements. If they've forgotten, don't worry, we'll review just before they go on stage.

Lyrics:
Your love is Deep
Your love is High
Your love is Long
Your love is wide
(repeat 4 times)

Who can separate us?
Who can separate us from His love?
Nothing can separate us
Nothing can separate us from his love
(2x)

Helping and Helpers (November 8)

Young People's Division (YPD) themed Sunday
Read the Lord's Prayer (book).

We talked about helping and helpers. This served as an introduction to the YPD work of missionaries- Missionaries are helpers- some in foreign countries, some right here at home and some right here at Bethel.

In the AME Church the youngest members of the YPD are “Sunbeams”. We talked about the attributes of Sunbeams- they are warm and make you happy.

We learned the song “Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam."

We read a story about helping from the children’s devotion book. We talked about ways we can help and made Thanksgiving cards to go along with the Thanksgiving baskets the Missionaries are preparing for needy families. We also made a card to thank Bro. Joe for all of his hard work over the years at Bethel.

The children were asked to bring a can of cranberry sauce next Sunday (Nov 15) to contribute to the Thanksgiving baskets.

Kings Kidz Rehearsal (with Miss Jessica)
Children learned Your Love is Deep (adapted from Jami Smith's original version) which they will sing during Youth Impact Sunday on November 22, 2009.

We will also have a mini recital immediately at the end of service (for parents) on Nov 15 in the Fellowship Hall. This will give children the opportunity to sing the song they've learned before a small, friendly audience, as practice for singing the following week in the main sanctuary.

Lyrics:
Your love is Deep
Your love is High
Your love is Long
Your love is wide
(repeat 4 times)

Who can separate us?
Who can separate us from His love?
Nothing can separate us
Nothing can separate us from his love

Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever.
Amen

Message review:

Baby Moses and his sister Miriam (Exodus)
(We read "Baby Moses" in the
Read With Me Bible)

God protected Moses when he was just a little baby. God also used Miriam, Moses' big sister, to watch over him and protect him. God knew that Moses was very special and that he would grow up to be a great leader.

This story shows us that kids are important in God's eyes and that he has a plan for our lives.God protects people who are important to Him. He protects you and He protects me, too.
(Note: kids will discuss Moses and the 10 Commandments on November 15.)

Questions for kids:
Whose else was watching over baby Moses was in when he was in the river? (God, and also Miriam)
Do you know anyone special that God protects?
How does God protect you
?

Registration Form Online

You can now register a child for children's worship online.

CLICK HERE FOR THE REGISTRATION FORM LINK

Even if the child is a visitor or an irregular children's worship attendee, we'd still like to have a registration form on file, as it helps up with our nametags, attendance records, contact and most importantly, we know how to get in contact with someone in case of an emergency.

Registering online helps the Children's Ministry Team save time.

Creation (October 18)

Message review:
God created the world (Genesis)

(We read "The World Begins" in the Read With Me Bible)

Days 1-6 He created night and day(1), sky (2), ground and plants (3), sun, moon and stars (4), fish and birds (5), animals and people (6).

On the 7th day He rested.

God created everything in this world (including you and me) on purpose. We should remember to rest and to keep our Sunday church days special.

Question:
What is one thing that God created that you are thankful for?
(Some answers: toys, grandma, heart, babies, fruits and vegetables, church school, people, animals, horses)

Welcome

A new year of Children's Ministry has begun.

This year's theme for kids worship is God's Children Have Purpose.

We will spend the year discussing the children of the Bible, and explore the purpose Bethel's kids play in God's kingdom (including our families, our church, our schools, and our community).

Schedule
For children ages 3-7 (who are potty trained), Children's Worship is held every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday during the 9:30 am worship service. Families worship together in the main sanctuary, then children are dismissed after praise and worship (before the sermon), and proceed into the Fellowship Hall. Parents should pick up their children at the end of the service.

2nd Sundays will now be YPD Sundays (Young People's and Children's Division). Kids are encouraged to wear green and white. YPD Sundays will give children the opportunity to learn about the history and traditions of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and about the concept of serving others (missions). Throughout the year the children will make cards and other items for residents of The Boston Home and St Joseph Home. A few Sundays per year, families will be encouraged to visit these two nursing homes during Bethel's regularly scheduled afternoon worship services to help kids put a face to those they've been praying about and making gifts for.

Order of Worship Service:

The Lord's Prayer
Praise and Worship
