LEADERSHIP BIOS

Simone Monique Barnes, EdM, Children's Ministry Director
A Native New Yorker, Simone joined Bethel AME Church in Boston in 2005, and began serving the Children's Ministry in 2008. Prior to joining Bethel, she was an active member of the International Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford MA, Trinity Baptist Church in New York City, and is a past president of the Young Adult Ministry at the historic Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon NY where she was baptized as an adult. She holds a master's degree in Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a bachelor of arts in English Literature and Criticism from UMass Dartmouth. As one of the oldest of more than 30 first cousins, and having grown up as the neighborhood babysitter, Simone has always had a heart for young children.

Simone's favorite scripture:  "Take heed to the ministry that you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it." (Colossians 4:17)

Jessica Rae Huber, Children's Music Director
Jessica was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to a musical family. As a child she attended Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale and began getting involved in worship ministry there. She was later hired and served five years as their youth worship leader and choir director. She now lives with her husband Ryan in Boston, and in addition to serving at Bethel, she and her husband also attend City Life Boston church. Jessica has a Bachelor's degree in History, Communications, and Women's Studies from Florida Atlantic University and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music.

Jessica's favorite scripture: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
