Offering Items and Parental Involvement

OFFERING ITEMS
Reminder, for offering this month we are collecting canned goods and non-perishable foods (which will be donated to Thanksgiving baskets). Children may, of course, bring money or artwork they created as offering, too.

Next month, November, we are collecting hats, mittens, gloves and scarves (for all ages).

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
We'd like to give parents/guardians more opportunities to serve the ministry. Here are three ways:

Snack
Snacktime consists of a fruit (in line with the fruit of the spirit), crackers/cookies, and water.
(We have a specific snack list that takes in to consideration thematic lessons and food allergies [particularly chocolate and nut allergies])

Room Helper
Hand out nametags, take attendance, take photos (that get posted onto the blog), picking up sermon CDs for children's ministry staff, and serve as a general helper on Sunday mornings. Serve once per year (or more, if you like).

Fellowship activities
Want to meet other parents and families at Bethel? There are ample opportunities for getting together once a season at locations such as the Boston Children's Museum (only $1 on Friday evenings!) Need one or two parents to take the lead on organizing this.

Interested in supporting the Children's Ministry?
Send an email to bethelchildren@gmail.com or talk to Kim, Karen, or Simone on Sundays.

October 24 Review

Rehearsal time...focused
.
I Love My Mom!

Storytime is done. How do we show Pastor Gloria we love her? Hugs!

sharing books so that everyone can see the pictures

storytime with Pastor Gloria

praise and worship

Noah's Ark, with guest reader Pastor Gloria.
  • Noah loved God (and loved all the animals and his family)
  • the rain and flood (children related having experienced flooded basements and flooded roads when driving in the car)
  • imagining 2 of lots of animals on the ark (which the group concluded must have included lions, rabbits, birds, snakes, turtles, cats, and dogs)
  • a dove that flew back with an olive branch in its mouth (response: "ill!" [The thought of eating a branch or a leaf was gross or disgusting]).
Drawing pictures of loving actions. How do you show love?
  • Hugging
  • Giving presents to mom--I love my mom
  • Petting or feeding animals
  • Not running people over with the car

October 17th Review

This past week was our first week back from summer break.
The theme for the year is the Fruit of the Spirit and this month's Fruit is Love.
We read the story of the creation and Adam and Eve
The kids drew fruit baskets on the covers of what will be there Fruit of the Spirit books, to be filled with their artwork every week on each month's theme.

King's Kidz info: They will be singing Hallelujah by Donnie McClurkin, (on the practice CD track 9).

If you did not receive a CD last week, please check the bookshelf in the Parent Room. Kings Kids will sing on Nov 21.

New This Year

THE NEW AND IMPROVED PARENT ROOM
In the small room off the sanctuary is the parent room, where families with young children may go during the worship service when need be. There are some quiet toys, books, and coloring sheets.

There are now bulletin boards for notices; clipboard for sign up sheets, wish lists (we'll post our wish lists soon), and comments from you; a bookshelf to neatly store toys, puzzles and books, and where we will leave any handouts or CDs your child missed if they didn't attend children's worship. You will also find children's offering envelopes and children' worship information cards (business card size) in here.

We've also rearranged the large chairs, to open up the space. Feel free to move the chairs as needed.

About one of the magnetic bulletin boards:
Jesus Loves the Little Children...of Bethel! We hope each of you will bring a small (wallet size, 3x5 or 4x6) picture of your children in a magnetic frame (available at many stores for less than $2) to adorn the red magnetic board area.

NEW this year: Offering.
We're teaching the children about giving back a portion of what god has given you. They may give of their time, talent or treasure. That can mean: a portion of their allowance, a draw
ing they made, things they don't need anymore (like gently used toys, books or clothes), or the following items that we will be collecting and donating:

October: Canned goods
November: gloves, mittens, hats
December: toys

There will also be a special children's offering on 1st Sundays in the main sanctuary (details to come).
