Sunday Summary, November 13th

Hello parents and friends!

We wanted to share with you what Bethel Children's Ministry did this past week.
The month of November marks the focus on the fruit of the spirit: Joy.
During worship we sang "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy, Down in my Heart," and since our Bible Story coincided, we sang "Joshua and the Battle of Jericho."

We continued our weekly practice of offering while we march around the room to the Fruit of the Spirit march. As a reminder, we are asking for offering of scarves, hats, and gloves for needy children.

Brother Howard joined us in reading the story to the children.

We had a spirited reenactment of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho as the children marched around our box 'city' with horns and then knocked it down. This was definitely one of our more effective object lessons to say the least.

We concluded Sunday with our final rehearsal for King's Kids singing in the sanctuary for next week's Youth Impact Sunday. Please have your child practice the song again this week which is number 9 on the cd: Hallelujah by Donnie McClurkin.

Have a blessed week and we look forward to seeing you in the sanctuary next weekend.

October 31: Joseph and Love

Joseph's Colorful Robe

Bro Justice and Sis Waetie Sanaa Kumahia joined us for praise and worship, then read the story of Joseph and his colorful robe.

Keeping with our monthly theme of LOVE (one fruit of the Spirit), kids learned about how much Joseph's father loved him and the amazing gift that he received (a colorful robe). They also discussed how unloving his brothers were towards him (throwing him into a hole, selling him into slavery), yet Joseph was loving to them. We discussed how to be loving with siblings.

They gave examples of loving things they do in real life:
  • feed the cat
  • give hugs
  • be nice
  • ask how someone's day day is
  • give gifts

For activity time, paper bags were transformed into colorful robes.

Apples (our fruit theme for October) and goldfish crackers for snack.

King's Kidz rehearsed Hallelujah (track 9 on the practice CD) to be sung on Nov 21.

Kids received banks to use at home (for offering, savings, etc). Extras are in the Parent Room in the sanctuary.

NO CHILDREN'S WORSHIP NEXT WEEK (it's communion Sunday, when we all worship together in the sanctuary.
