On our first week back since the Christmas break, we dove right into our new fruit of the spirit which is patience. During praise and worship time, we sang a song about Herbert the Snail who taught us to have patience.

We read the story of the fiery furnace when God protected his children from the fire. We talked about how God can save and protect us, and we should be patient for him as well as with the people around us.

Our fruit this month is the pineapple which represents patience.

The children began learning this chant which they will say in church on February 27. We need your help to help them learn it at home! Here are the words.

Bethel AME Children's Worship Chant
Adult: Who are we?

Children:
I'm a Bethel-Light of Bethel AME
I go to church and learn about the god in me!
I learn about God and Jesus His son,
How He gave His life for everyone.

I learn the bible and church history.
African Methodis Episcopal - that's A - M- E
It started waaaaaay back in 1794
Richard Allen, born a slave, became much more.
He learned to write. He learned to read.
He studied the Bible. God's children he'd lead.

He started a church in Philly, P - A
Mother Bethel AME still stands today.

In 1988 Bethel Boston was birthed
by Pastors Ray and Glo to spread love on earth!

I'm a Bethel-Light and as you can see
A joint heir to the greatest legacy!*

Romans 8:16-17

For the activity the children drew pictures of what patience meant to them.

We had an appropriate snack of pineapple slices to finish it off.

Please remember to help your child learn the chant and bring an offering every week of money, canned goods, or hats and scarves for needy children.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
Galations 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control...."

Lyrics from the chorus of the song PATIENCE (Herbert the snail):
Have patience, have patience
Don't be in such a hurry
When you get impatient, you only start to worry
Remember, remember that God is patient, too
And think of all the times when others have to wait for you
