Recap of Sunday, February 20th

Just a quick recap from last week, February 20th. We had a great time as we heard a Bible story from Pastor Gloria, worshiped, and continued to study our February fruit of the spirit: Kindness.

Below are some photos from last week. We also had some special guests who shared some informative Black History Month chants with the children. We learned about Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Barak Obama, and a few others!

Remember! This week (tomorrow) we will be singing our special Black History Month chant in the main service all about the history of our church and the history of the A.M.E. tradition. You can find the lyrics below on this page. Please go over these with your child before they come and we'll be pulling them out for a quick rehearsal before they go on.

See you tomorrow! Blessings

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Hello again parents and friends!
Today was a great day at Bethel Children's ministry.
We had a small group today, but it was great nonetheless. We started talking about the fruit of the spirit kindness for the month of February. The actual fruit for this month is the strawberry.

The children drew beautiful pictures of what kindness looks like to them.

We continued to practice our Bethel Chant that will be sung in the sanctuary in 2 weeks. Each child was given a cd which has this chant as well as other worship music on it. Please help your child learn this chant from memory! The lyrics are also typed out on this blog.

Today was the debut of the brand new name tags which feature every child's photo.

Have a blessed week and we look forward to seeing your child in children's church next Sunday!

We continued with our discussion about what it means to be patient. Simone read Daniel and the Lions. We talked about how Daniel was patient and obedient to God. Because of his patience, he was not thrown into the lion's den.
To show that we are working on being patient, we made butter which was part of our yummy treat!! The children enjoyed shaking their jars and were amazed that cream turned into butter. It's was also a wonderful way to work off their energetic bodies. Their task was to share their butter with their family if it made it home.
Jessica continued to rehearse the Bethel chant with the children. Please practice this at home with them as they will perform this on Sunday, February 27.
The Fruit of the Spirit for the month of February is kindness along with fun strawberry treats!
